Sai Prema Hospital
It was an interesting challenge to be involved with the Sai Prema Children's Heart Hospital in Fiji. Prior to the pandemic, we worked with the Sai Prema Foundation to design a kitchen suited to the Island conditions.

The Horowhenua Learning Centre Training Kitchen is an excellent facility for tertiary chef and hospitality training in the Horowhenua District. With 8 student stations + a tutors station along with a selection of additional cooking appliances, there is plenty of space for hands on training. Alongside the kitchen, the restaurant and cafe provides the ultimate learning experience.
It's been great to work with the Horowhenua Learning Centre to help provide opportunities for young people within the local community. All 8 training stations, each with a Waldorf gas + electric convection oven range and benchspace, can easily watch the tutor at their station. This means it's easy to teach, and easy to learn. Additional cooking appliances including a combi oven and deep fryer are also available to use to give more experience.
Walk in refrigeration and a commercial pass-through dishwasher also feature in the kitchen. Our plinth style benching ensures that keeping the kitchen clean is as easy as possible. Newly commissioned in the former Horowhenua hospital site, challenges included working in formerly derelict buildings which had been unused for over a decade. This has become a state of the art facility unrecognisable from its former state.
